How to serve mulled wine

Our Christkindl mulled wine is ready to serve straight from the bottle. The winemaker has taken the hard work out of blending and mixing the spices for you.

The mulled wine should be stored at a cool ambient temperature but not chilled. If the bottles are stored in a cellar they should be brought to room temperature before warming as the sudden change in heat can affect the taste and encourage sediment.

Pour the mulled wine into a large pre-heated saucepan on a low heat. Stir occasionally for few minutes until warm to the touch. Do not over-heat and never allow the wine to boil. However tempting it may be do not microwave mulled wine as the delicate spices can be over-excited and result in a rough, burnt tasting wine.

Mulled wine and Lebkuchen

Mulled wine is traditionally served with Lebkuchen, a traditional German biscuit baked for Christmas and resembling a small, soft gingerbread. A hard version is also available which is often decorated with icing and the sort usually offered at German fairs.
